Berlin, a symbol of a resurgent Germany, a city of innovation and creativity, has attractive hotel deals in Western Europe. Recent developments associated with low land prices compared to capitals such as Paris or London make Berlin a city with one of the most exciting hospitality experiences on the continent. And if you need a car, you can easily rent it with a good discount from cars-scanner.

Among historic palaces such as the legendary Adlon, successful boutique hotels, more sophisticated than regular business hotels and modern palaces, the offer is rich, covering all areas of this very sprawling city and should satisfy all budgets. Here’s a selection of the top ten hotels in the city for a sophisticated stay in the German capital.

Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin

Much more than just a luxury hotel, the Adlon is a legendary palace, the name of which is known to all Germans, like the Ritz in Paris or the Plaza in New York. Originally built in 1907, the palace quickly became a popular destination for movie stars, journalists and heads of state. Marlene Dietrich, Charlie Chaplin, Greta Garbo or Louise Brooks stayed here until the outbreak of World War II.

Since 1997, the German-Swiss Kempinski group has operated this legendary hotel, ideally located opposite the Brandenburg Gate, the city’s symbol, and just a stone’s throw from the Reichstag and Potsdamer Platz. Inside you will find all the comforts of a modern 5-star hotel, from rooms and suites to a luxurious spa. The lobby is a grand model hotel with galleries and luxury. For reference, it was from the balcony on the fourth floor of “Adlon” that Michael Jackson introduced his son to fans in 2002.

De Rome — an exclusive hotel complex in Berlin

Palace, 19th century in the imposing building of the former headquarters of the Dresdner Bank and then the Central Bank of the GDR (before the fall of the wall), Hotel De Rome is today one of the few luxury hotels in the city, housed in a historic building with a recreated atmosphere.

Inside we find the style of hotels from the Rocco Forte collection, just like the Hôtel de Russie in Rome. The decor is full of luxury. The rooms are large — at least 35 square meters, well equipped and very comfortable, the service is impeccable. Particularly noteworthy are the beautiful mosaic bathrooms and their impeccable audio systems, as well as the large twenty-meter pool built in an old bank vault room. In summer, the hotel’s rooftop terrace becomes one of the most chic places in the city and attracts both local connoisseurs and international clientele.

The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin

For a moment, you might think you are in Chicago, as the exterior of the building resembles the skyscrapers of the American golden age. The beautiful hotel of the Marriott Group has indeed opened its doors in the heart of Potsdamer Platz in a remarkable building that has proven itself from the best side of the city’s hotel industry.

Inside we find a classic European style. The majestic marble staircase, Baroque chandeliers and Art Deco furniture are part of the sumptuous decor designed by the Cologne decorator. The rooms are decorated in beige tones: luxurious, super comfortable and classic, with marble bathrooms with heated floors.

In addition to what has already been said, a complement to the picture, there is a magnificent lounge on the top floor, the lovely La Prairie spa, the chic locally-esteemed bar (Curtain Club) and the lovely French brasserie (Brasserie Desbrosses).

Das Stue — a chic boutique hotel in Berlin

Opened in 2012 in the building of the former Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark, this boutique hotel has now received international media attention and overwhelmingly positive customer reviews. Das Stue quickly established itself as one of the trendiest hotels in the city.

It must be said that the hotel has no shortage of advantages: classical architecture, which suggests that we are in a huge bourgeois house with excellent sophisticated design and historical charm. Warm, colorful, contemporary style is realized luxury in 78 rooms and suites. Large bay windows overlooking the zoo give the impression of an incredible space on sunny days.

To top it off, a luxury spa is available to clients with a 14-meter pool, and the restaurant is considered one of the best in town with its giant tapas (up to 30 courses) and its unrivaled creativity.

Grand Hyatt Berlin

On the site of the Berlin Wall (until 1989), a modern building was built for the Grand Hyatt, which fits perfectly into the architectural ensemble of this quarter. The hotel complex has established itself as one of the most beautiful luxury hotels in the new Berlin.

Inside, we find beautiful interiors and the highest level of service consistent with the Hyatt trademark: a large lobby, minimalist furnishings and artwork everywhere (some of which were specially commissioned for the hotel). The rooms and suites are examples of comfort and modern elegance, with marble bathrooms that have two sliding doors to the bedroom, creating the impression of a very pleasant space.

On the top floor, the Olympus spa and fitness center: a large swimming pool overlooking Berlin, a huge jacuzzi, luxurious changing rooms with a sauna, hammam and vigor bath, shiatsu treatments, a large sunbathing terrace. For lunch or dinner, the hotel offers the services of three restaurants: Vox, one of the best in the city and is the flagship of the hotel, as well as the Italian restaurant Tizian and Mesa.

Patrick Hellmann Schlosshotel

The chic residential area of Grunewald in the southwest of the city, on the edge of the eponymous forest, which best reflects the dynamism of Berlin in the 2000s. The elegant hotel enjoys an exclusive location in a discreet early 20th century Baroque palace, built on the initiative of a close friend of Emperor Wilhelm II.

It is the German fashion designer Patrick Hellmann, who bought the hotel in early 2014, that we owe the current decor of this place, transformed into luxury private hotel Karl Lagerfeld. Here we find a magnificent setting that has all the modern comforts to guarantee an unforgettable experience. Of particular note is the large garden and its majestic trees, as well as the lovely swimming pool, indoor in winter and open in fine weather.

Sofitel Berlin Kurfürstendamm

At the Berlin hotel of the luxury brand of the Accor group we find a skillful combination of accepted rules and regulations: a central location on the Gendarmenmarkt, close to the trendy shopping area, impeccable business services and conference rooms, a full-service spa with a terrace, well appointed rooms. A refined boutique hotel with a cozy and elegant atmosphere.

Hermes bathroom hygiene items, Bose stereo system, Nespresso coffee machine, complimentary Evian water bottles and Wi-Fi are just some of the details that piece together a perfect place from every point of view. One regret: the classic rooms are just 20 square meters a bit small for this category. The good news is that Sofitel is one of the most affordable 5-star hotels in the German capital for its pricing.

Waldorf Astoria Berlin

The Waldorf Astoria Berlin occupies 15 of the 32 floors of a perfect tower in the former West Berlin. Unlike its American competitors (Hyatt, Ritz-Carlton, Radisson) and French ones (Sofitel), the luxury brand of the Hilton group did not choose Potsdamer Platz or Mitte, and preferred a location in the western part of the city, in a busy area. The zoo is literally across the street, and the famous Ku’damm and its department stores are just around the corner.

The decoration is done in a harmonious and modern Art Deco style. Large rooms (minimum 42 square meters), ultra comfortable (with luxurious marble bathrooms) and ultra-modern (40-inch screen with Apple TV, second screen in the bathroom mirror), as well as views of the zoo and the surrounding area. The Presidential Suite is 280 square meters of pure luxury at 115 meters above the ground: the tallest and most luxurious suite in the city.

Waldorf Astoria has brought in two big French names to collaborate. Guerlain is an expansive fifth-floor spa with indoor pool, and Pierre Gagnaire is the Michelin-awarded Les Solistes gourmet restaurant just a few months after its opening.

Radisson Blu Hotel, Berlin

2,500 tropical fish, 220,000 liters of water and 25 meters in height are impressive characteristics for the equally delightful cylindrical aquarium in the atrium of the Radisson Blu Berlin. Which can be visited from the inside thanks to the glass elevator — it quickly became a landmark in new Berlin and allowed Radisson to become very famous.

Apart from this unique attraction, the Radisson Blu is a very good 4 star hotel. Impeccable Scandinavian design, comfortable rooms, first class equipped with excellent service — you will find everything you expect from this level of hotel at very competitive prices. Its location between Museum Island and Alexanderplatz makes it a great stopover in the eastern part of the city.

But if the hotel has many positive qualities and characteristics, including value for money, there is no privacy here due to the continuous flow of curious people coming to see the aquarium in the atrium, which makes the lobby more of a station hall than a luxury hotel.

Regent Berlin

A stone’s throw from the Gendarmenmarkt and the fashion boutiques on Friedrichstraße (including the Galeries Lafayette), one couldn’t have dreamed of a better location than the Regent to discover the German capital, undoubtedly the city’s most central palace.

Inside, the luxurious style is the style of the great European hotels of the second half of the 20th century. Large elegant rooms in pastel colors with Bidermeyer furnishings (at least 40 square meters) fully equipped (DVD player, free Wi-Fi, marble bathrooms with separate shower and bathtub). Impeccable service, of course, from doorman to service.

In addition to everything for the clients of the institution, of course, a luxury spa, with a sauna and hammam (but without a pool) and the excellent French restaurant Fischers Fritz, which has pampered gourmets since the mid-2000s, awarded two Michelin stars.
